Forest Planning for the George Washington National Forest appears ready to resume.  The Forest Service has established new planning regulations to replace those found to be illegal by a federal appeals court in March 2007.  So planning on the GWNF and other national forests is about to begin.  [read more]

THE 3rd ANNUAL TREEHUGGERS BALL held Saturday, May 10, 2008 to benefit Wild Virginia and Living Education Center for Ecology and the Arts was a great success and a lot of fun. We raised over $5,000 for two great organizations.

TO HELP PROTECT VIRGINIA'S ROADLESS AREAS AND GAIN NEW WILDERNESS:

Write a letter to Congress to support the Roadless Area Conservation Act!

The Virginia Ridge and Valley Act 2007 ( S. 570) was recently re-introduced into Congress. The bill has passed the House (Oct. 23, 2007). Senators Warner and Webb have introduced the bill in the Senate. This bill would protect over 55,000 acres on the Jefferson National Forest as Wilderness or National Scenic Area.
